Trial:  Chronic Prostatitis - Clinical trial for men with chronic prostatitis

Objective
 

The UCLA Department of Urology announces the start of a  new clinical trial that for men with chronic prostatitis, also known as male chronic pelvic pain syndrome.  Chronic non-bacterial prostatitis is a debilitating condition that affects up to 10% of adult males sometime in their life.

 

The Trial is directed by Drs. Mark Litwin and Scott Zeitlin and Research Coordinator, Gwendolyn Byrd, M.A.



Patient Eligibility
 

The trial is for patients who have experienced pelvic pain and/or discomfort for at least a 3-month period within the last 6 months. This placebo-controlled trial of the oral medication, pregabalin (for nerve pain), is open to men who have typically failed antibiotics and alpha blockers.
