Kidney Transplantation - Compare Two Medication Combinations to Prevent Kidney Transplant Rejection |
|
| |
|
| |
|
| |
The purpose of this study is test two different combinations of medications to see if they are effective in preventing kidney transplant rejection and also to see if these combinations create less side effects than standard kidney transplant treatment. The dose of daclizumab (ZenapaxÒ) which will be provided in the study is lower than that recommended by the manufacturer. We are using this lower dose because (1) according to many published data, the two doses regimen provides adequate anti-rejection coverage, and (2) given the combination of the immunosuppressive medications, the two doses regimen is likely to avoid the possibility of over immunosuppression. |
| |
This is a “blinded study”, meaning the study participant will not know which of the possible study regimens he or she is assigned to. Participants will have a 50/50 chance of being assigned to either the standard of care regimen or the experimental regimen. |

Enrollment Criteria*:
- Study subject (transplant recipient) is 18 - 65 years of age
- Donor is 5 – 65 years of age
- No prior treatment with Zenapax®
* Other inclusion/exclusion criteria apply |
